Church School

After the nearly two year shutdown due to Covid, we will be restarting our Sunday School and Confirmation programs.  More details to follow.  Below is a tentative outline of the program.

The Asbury children’s Sunday school is free for students in pre-k to 8th grade. You do not have to be United Methodist to enroll your child in this Christ-centered educational experience. Asbury has a safe sanctuaries policy that includes background checks on all teachers.

Our team of teachers are parent and grandparent volunteers who take turns each week. We use the Whirl lectionary based curriculum for the two younger age groups so that the Scripture the students are studying is consistent with the Scripture used in weekly worship. Middle school students use an in depth interactive Bible study curriculum called “Echo the Word.”

Students worship with their families from 11-11:20. Following a children’s message by Pastor Bette or a member of the congregation,  the students and teachers go to their classrooms for a fun interactive multi media lesson. On the first Sunday of the month, students are invited back at the end of worship to receive Holy Communion (with the parent’s permission).

Students in 7th grade and older are invited to consider a two year confirmation preparation program with Pastor Bette in addition to Sunday school.
